1. Requirements to rent a car
To rent a vehicle, the main driver must hold a driving licence that has been valid for at least one year. There is no predefined age limit.  The rental contract can only be concluded on presentation of the following documents:
  • Valid national identity card or passport
  • Driving licence appropriate for the category of the rented vehicle
2. Booking and payment terms
Rental requests can be made via the website, by phone, by WhatsApp message or directly with our team at the agency in Oujda. A booking is only considered confirmed after validation by CARIVA car rental Oujda and, where applicable, payment of an advance or registration of payment details. Rates are shown in Moroccan dirhams (MAD) and in euros (EUR), all taxes included. They include in particular all-risk insurance and a mileage defined as unlimited or capped depending on the chosen package. Prices may vary according to the season, the rental period and the vehicle category. The following payment methods are accepted:
  • Cash payment
  • Bank cards
  • Bank transfer
  • Mobile payment where this service is available
3. Security deposit
  • General case: no security deposit is required.
  • Special case: for certain driver profiles (age, length of time holding a licence), CARIVA car rental Oujda may require a security deposit when the vehicle is handed over, to cover the following possible costs:
  • the insurance excess in the event of a claim not fully covered
  • possible fines
  • possible exceptional cleaning costs if the vehicle is returned very dirty.
  • The amount of the excess depends on the model and age of the vehicle; it is stated on the quote and then on the rental contract.
The customer should bear in mind that, even without a deposit, they remain contractually bound to CARIVA car rental Oujda and remain liable for any costs for which they are responsible.
4. Insurance and excess
The entire CARIVA car rental Oujda fleet is covered by all-risk insurance, including at a minimum third-party liability cover for damage caused to others. In the event of an at-fault claim or when no third party is identified, an excess remains payable by the renter. Its amount, which varies according to the model and age of the vehicle, is 12,000 MAD maximum (about €1,000); it is stated on the quote and then on the contract, so the customer knows it before signing. Any accident, theft or damage must be reported as soon as possible and be covered by an accident report (constat amiable) or a report from the competent authorities, sent to CARIVA car rental Oujda within 24 hours.
5. Vehicle handover and return
A joint inspection report is drawn up when the vehicle is handed over to the customer and again when it is returned. Any damage or anomaly not reported at departure and found on return may be charged to the renter, up to the limit of the excess set out in the contract. The vehicle is handed over with a set fuel level and must be returned with an equivalent level. If the level is lower, CARIVA car rental Oujda may charge for the missing fuel as well as a service fee.
6. Use of the vehicle
The renter undertakes to use the vehicle carefully and in accordance with its intended purpose, and in particular to:
  • Not take the vehicle out of the Kingdom of Morocco without the prior written consent of CARIVA car rental Oujda
  • Not transport illicit, dangerous or prohibited goods
  • Not sublet the vehicle or lend it to drivers not named in the contract
  • Comply with the Moroccan Highway Code and all traffic rules in force
7. Booking cancellation
The customer may cancel their booking free of charge under the conditions specified when ordering (by default, cancellation is free unless otherwise stated on the offer or booking voucher). If CARIVA car rental Oujda is forced to cancel a booking for a legitimate reason (force majeure, vehicle unavailable, breakdown or technical incident), the customer will be offered either a vehicle of an equivalent category, subject to availability, or a full refund of the amounts already paid.
8. Renter’s liability
Throughout the rental period, the renter remains liable for:
  • Traffic offences and all associated fines
  • Loss of or damage to the keys, vehicle documents or accessories supplied (GPS, child seats, etc.)
  • Damage caused by negligence, improper use of the vehicle or driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or illicit substances
In the event of a serious breach of the obligations set out in the contract or in these terms, CARIVA car rental Oujda reserves the right to end the rental early and take back the vehicle, without compensation to the renter.
9. Dispute resolution – Competent court
In the event of a serious breach of contractual obligations — in particular if : 
  • abandoning the vehicle at the airport or elsewhere,
  • refusing to pay the costs resulting from an at-fault accident,
  • misusing the vehicle or returning it in an unacceptable state of cleanliness
The renter is liable to legal proceedings. In accordance with the legislation in force, these proceedings may lead to restrictive measures, such as a ban on leaving Moroccan territory notified to the customs services, until the situation is settled. Any dispute relating to the interpretation, performance or validity of these General Terms and Conditions shall, unless mandatory legal provisions provide otherwise, be governed by Moroccan law and brought exclusively before the competent courts of Oujda.
10. Acceptance of the General Terms and Conditions
Any confirmed booking and any taking possession of a vehicle from CARIVA imply the customer’s full, complete and unreserved acceptance of these General Terms and Conditions. The customer acknowledges having read these provisions before finalising their booking.
